Dabosingkep is the main town of Singkep. Up to the 1980's tin mining brought prosperity to the island, After the tin market collapsed , the mining companies left the island and Dabo turned into a sleepy city. Now the city is dotted with multistory buildings attracting swallows for birdnest production.
